Million years ago the great American Continent was connected. Lake Cocibolca (Lake Nicaragua) is the navel of the same. Meeting point of the indian culturas of the north and the south.

Once an Indian woman felt the sadness of the night and visited a wise priest. He told her to cry over a fruit basket and fill it with her tears. The priest brought an eagle egg, filled tears in and told her to take it to a place with two volcanoes. She set out on her journey. When she reached the spot, the egg fell from the basket and the tears overflowed to form the Great Lake Nicaragua-held sacred by the Indians of the region. The lake has a surface area of 8,264 sq. Km., with 300 islands and an average depth of 70 meters. It is a challenge to swimmers and wind surfers.
